The Supreme Court has taken suo motu notice of the murder of Shahzeb Khan, son of a senior police officer who was killed after a shooting near Mubarak Masjid in Karachi’s Defence area on December 25.

Prime suspect in the murder of Shahzeb Khan, Shahrukh Jatoi could have managed to escape to the UAE soon after the incident, sources told Express News on Friday.


Express News correspondent Rehan Khan said that per documents received from the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA), Shahrukh Sikander Jatoi indicated that he may have fled to the UAE on December 27, 2012.

Shahrukh had allegedly been killed Shahzeb on December 25.


It was previously believed that Shahrukh, whose name has been included in the exit control list (ECL) may have managed to escape to Australia, where he had been pursuing higher education.


On Friday, the Supreme Court lauded Express News anchor Shahzeb Khan’s show To the point, for tracing out the suspects and covering the incident.


Police too were in action on Friday with at least three known locations of the Jatois in Karachi being raided. In Hyderabad, at least one cement factory after police raided the premises in search of Shahrukh.

Police arrested Siraj Talpur – one of the suspects in Shahzeb Khan’s murder case – on Saturday from Naushahro Feroze, Express News reported.


The other suspect, Shahrukh Jatoi, is still at large.


Shahzeb was shot dead near his home in Defence last week. A popular student and son of DSP Aurangzaib, Shahzeb’s murder created an uproar in civil society.


Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on January 1 took suo motu notice of the murder and ordered for a report to be presented in court.

Earlier believed to have fled the country, Shahrukh Jatoi, is still in Pakistan, Express News quoted Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) sources as saying Saturday.


Shahrukh Jatoi, the prime suspect in Shahzeb Khan’s murder had, according to earlier reports, fled to the UAE on December 27.
New evidence however, suggests otherwise.


The documents taken from Shahrukh Jatoi’s father pertaining to his travel have revealed that he is still in Pakistan, the FIA source said.
According to the source, the documents saying he had gone to the UAE were fake.

Well actually the murderer was a Sindhi so a good opportunity to exploit it and then MQM joined the show, both not knowing that Shahzeb is himself a Sindhi "wadera's" nephew. I guess jealousy shuts the brains of the educated urbanite middle classiays.
