I wonder when will we understand how serious are things in Tribal area and in fact in the whole NWFP now. How can the people sitting in Islamabad and Pindi (GHQ) not see what is so apparent here, that the Talibans will soon be in every corner of the country. May be they (GHQ) want us to become Taliban, may be we (most of us) already are talibans...

& without law inforcement agencies ajj ke dor mein koi bhee exploit ker sakta hai aur phir woh bhe pak jese country mein jahan har dusra leader apni boli khud laga raha hota hai

Notorious....I agree with you, the tribals are in fact also responsible for the growth of the Taliban, as they allow minimum govt interference in their affairs, dont allow police or military and are unable to administer the area themselves. The maliks have been pretty useless since the 1980's, and that is why pre-911, the tribals areas were the main centers of drug and contraband smuggling. Then after 9/11, the additional disease of Talibanization took root in the tribal areas.

Tribals have their own way of life...its OK...But Tribals need to realize the fact that we are in 21st century...not in 16th century...they need to change if not for themselves but atleast for the sake of their children & next generations.

Talat has a police escort, they just dont show it on TV. On an earlier visit to NWFP, he acknowledged he was with a police escort, and I dont see any problem with that. I also believes he gets the required approvals from the govt.

This thing ensures that PPP government also damn cares about the people of FATA and the rule of law being implemented or not.

God forbid, Baluchistan, NWFP and now FATA all are at stake of separation.

I can verify that Kurram agency is inaccessible for over a year now. One of my friend has left the region for good and has sought immigration overseas. The pecularity of this agency is that here majority of population is SHIA. Thats why they are vociferously anti taliban. So in essence here the problem is SECTARIAN.

you are correct that root cause is sectarian violence, and local Taliban have taken advantage of it. But I find it very regrettable how these folks are fighting wars over whether one is Shia or Sunni. They are killing each other and seizing property based on Shia-Sunni.
