PPP has announced Asif Zardari as Official Cadidate for Presidency of Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People�s Party Saturday announced the name of its Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari as the candidate for the post of President of Pakistan.

PPP leaders, Senator Raza Rabbani made the announcement at press briefing held here at Zardari House.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sherry Rehman and PPP Chief Whip in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah were present on the occasion.

Pakistan People's Party spokeswoman, Sherry Rehman briefed the media about the discussions of PPP CEC meeting which was held at Zardari House on Friday saying that all the members of CEC named Zardari as a consensus presidential candidate.

She added that the allied parties of PPP, including Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) and Awami National Party (ANP) also expressed their support for the nomination.

Earlier Pakistan's Election Commission on Friday set a date of Sept. 6 for the presidential election, which is to be held by federal and provincial lawmakers.

My family has always been a diehard supporter of PPP, but I personally think that this party is completely controlled by the feudal lords of Punjab and Sindh, just like PMLQ. I personally think that PMLN is a better party now because it is being supported by the middle class of Punjab, I don't like Shareef brothers though. Jageedaars' PMLQ would be a more natural alliance of PPP than PMLN. But when will ANP people get mature, their subordinate behaviour pisses me off.

Pakistan is heading towards Balkanization. We literaly need to flatter Baluchistan at this stage by having a figurehead Balochi President. Officials should realize there has been almost 4 insurgencies in Balochistan uptill now & the army has always managed to quell it. At the current volatile time, when the army is engaged on the Western Frontier, and India is arming the Nuclear deal with the US thus attempting to draw Pak forces on the eastern borders, it will be very easy for India to harbour invdividuals like Baramdad Bugti and increase problems in Balochistan. Supporting a Baloch candidate for the presidency at this stage would be the best thing we can do

i really don't trust PPP's commitments .. i'm not a PML-N supporter either .. but they way they cheated and backed away from restoring Judges on several occasions .. and the way, they are not doing anything against Musharraf ...I'm really really disappointed and now Zardari, Mr. 10 %, will help destroy Pakistan.
