Facts
* He did his High school from St Columbus High School in New Delhi
* Shahrukh Khan has back and knee problems.
* He has been voted the sexiest man in Asia by the Jade magazine.
* He was an ace in electronics and biology but wasn't good at all in mathematics. Overall a brilliant student.
* He captained all teams in football, hockey, and played cricket at zone and national level.
* He graduated from Hansraj College, Delhi University and followed it up with a Masters Degree in Mass Communications (Film making) from Jamiya Miliya Islamiya, in Delhi, but quit it in a year.
* The reason he took up on Mass Communications (Film making) is because he loved the TV commercials.
* For a short spell, Shahrukh Khan ran a restaurant in Darya Ganj, New Delhi.
* He also joined theatre with Barry John. He started out as an actor on the small screen, in Dil Dariya (directed by Lekh Tandon) where he almost went unrecognized because he played a sardarji. Then came his teleserials Fauji, Ummeed & Circus.
* Shahrukh Khan is a chain smoker.
* In school there were four of them and called themselves the c gang. As they were from the c-section. They are still friends and are married friends. Like he married Gauri whos best friend is married to Vikas. He has never had more friends and close friends than these three-except perhaps, Chikki. Anyway, they were very cool, yanky gang, very American. They loved wearing Nike and theyd have a little spring in their walk, like the Americans and the blacks do. Like in Grease.
* Shahrukh Khan has campaigned for Pepsi, Bagpiper, Santro, Omega etc
* Shahrukh Khan launched his perfume "SK" with the French perfumers, Jeannes Arthes.
* Fun with Teachers: Whenever they got a new teacher, hed pretend to have an epileptic fit. The students would pull off his shoes and would force him to walk bare feet. Everybody knew that Shah Rukh was probably taking his ass. He was really very wicked.
* Relationship he shared with his teachers: One person who really shaped his life was Brother Eric DSouza. He was short and sweet. He taught him all the games and a lot about life. He used to smoke a lot and Shah Rukh used to tell him that only weak people smoked so much. Now he does it.
* The Arrogance: Shah Rukh would return home at nine every night, after taking part in elocution, exhibitions, or rehearsing. Later at night he would play Cricket under the street lamp. He would study at the last minute as he had a good memory. At college he was quite lost as he came from a sophisticated school. But he wasnt a pseudo guy with an accent like most guys from St. Columbuss get. He admits that he learnt to be arrogant because of the atmosphere in school. He had it for 13 years in school. That amount of arrogance he says is good. Then that attitude continued at Stephens College, which he left after a year. He then joined Hansraj College.
* Any Girlfriends at College: He had very good friends but never affairs. He would sit with girls. Some would help him write his notes like Usha and Anju Shah. He never sat with a girl and chatted with her. He was always in a gang. Coming from a segregated school, his relationship with girls had always been from a distance. St. Columbus made him a sort of Dennis the Menace, where falling in love was stupid-macho men dont fall in love.

Filmfare Best Actress Award and Zee Cine Award Best Actor- Female for 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai ' (1998)
Star Screen Award Best Actress for Dushman (1998)
Filmfare Best Actress Award and Star Screen Award Best Actress for 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' (2001)
Zee Cine Special Award for Outstanding Performance- Female for 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' (2001).

Kajol, one of the most successful actresses of Bollywood, was born to actress Tanuja and producer Somu Mukherjee. She comes from a filmy family, her grandmother Shobhna Samarth and great grandmother Rattan Bai have been major figures in Bollywood. Famous star of yesteryears, Nutan is her aunt and Rani Mukherjee, another equally successful actress, is her second cousin. Her childhood was laden with happiness and material prosperity.
Though she has the girl next door image and is not as glamorous as the others in her field, Kajol is outstanding in her acting. The flexibility of her acting can be seen from the various characters done by this natural actress. She gives more attention to her acting than the financial success of a film.
Kajol debuted with the flop film 'Bekhudi' (1992), but she made an impact with her second film 'Baazigar' (1993). This was followed by a fabulous performance in the family drama, 'Udhaar Ki Zindagi' (1994) for which she received rave reviews. Her next movie was 'Yeh Dillagi' (1994) where she showed her full range of acting along with Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan. In 1995, she had a hit 'Karan Arjun', with Shahruk Khan. The same year she paired with Ajay Devgan, in two action thrillers 'Gundaraj' and 'Hulchul'. Her 'Dilwale Dulahaniya Le Jayenge'(1995) with Shah Rukh Khan shot her to the top most position in Bollywood. She won the Filmfare Best Actress Award for her performance in this film.
She did not do many films in the year 1996. In 1997, she played a villainous role in Rajiv Rai's murder mystery 'Gupt' and became the first woman to win the Filmfare Best Villain Award. Then she was again paired with Ajay Devgan in Indra Kumar's romantic comedy, 'Ishq' which was a huge commercial hit. But the same year, 'Sapnay', a remake of the Tamil hit 'Minsaara Kanavu' with Arvind Swamy and Prabhu Deva, failed at the box office.
The Year 1998 was good for her with three successive hits such as 'Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha' with Ajay Devgan, 'Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya' with Salman Khan and 'Dushman' with Sunjay Dutt. But the real blockbuster of the year happened towards the end, with Karan Johar's 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' where her character Anjali played a frivolous role with her boyish look in the first half and a very different sophisticated role in the second. Then came movies like 'Dil Kya Kare' (1999), 'Hote Hote Pyar Hogaya' (1999) etc which failed to draw the same response at the box office.
She got married to actor Ajay Devgan on February 24, 1999 and a daughter Nysa was born to them in April 2003. After her marriage she became selective in her roles and joined Ajay Devgan's production company. She was seen in films like 'Raju Chacha' (2000), 'Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi' (2001), Karan Johar's 'Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham' (2001) and 'Kal Ho Na Ho' (2003). She won the third Film Fare award for her brilliant performance in 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham'. After this movie, she stayed away from the film industry for a while. In 2006, she came back enacting the role of a blind Kashmiri girl with Aamir Khan in Kunal Kohlis 'Fanaa'. Aamir and Kajol showed sparks of brilliance and created an incredible chemistry between their characters.
Charming Kajol, with her simplicity, girl next door attitude and exceptional acting talent has won over the audience and has a steady fan following. She is the brand ambassador of Whirlpool products along with her husband. Her younger sister Tanisha appeared in films like 'Neal 'n' Nikki', 'Sarkar' etc. Kajol's eventful journey from 'Bekhudi' to 'Fanaa', shows the power of her versatility, sheer hard work and dedication towards art behind all of her roles. She doesn't give more importance to publicity or celebrity because she believes acting is purely a profession. No wonder then that Kajol is rated as superb among her generation of leading ladies...

Aamir Khan Detailed Biography

Aamir Khan was first introduced as a child artiste in the 1970's hit Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973) -- he was the youngest child in the trio. Aamir Khan 'quit' movies and went on to become the state tennis champion for Maharashtra. Aamir Khan also fell in love with the girl next door in the meantime. Aamir Khan proposed to her the day he turned 21, and she accepted. But apparently, there was opposition since she was from a Hindu family and he, from a devout Islamic one. So, they eloped, got married and returned to their homes. Aamir Khan's wife Reena even appears in the song "Papa Kehte Hain" that made him the darling of the nation.

From the tremendous success of Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988), which was released when he was 23, Aamir Khan has blossomed into India's finest actor. Aamir Khan's list of sterling performances include Dil (1990), _Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin (1990)_ , _Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander (1992)_ , Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke (1993), Andaz Apna Apna (1994), Rangeela (1995), Raja Hindustani (1996), Ishq (1997), Ghulam (1998) and Sarfarosh (1999).

Aamir Khan's performance in Earth (1998) as the Ice-Candy man has received rave reviews from Indian and International critics. Using classic "method acting", Aamir Khan acts in all genres of Indian films - comedy, action, drama and romance. Though Aamir Khan performs in few films, Aamir Khan is acknowleged today as the most complete Indian actor for his diverse choice of roles and films.

Kareena Kapoor is yet another K-family girl who took the plunge and managed to make a huge splash in the Hindi films industry. She had the ‘privilege’ of debuting with the Bachchan boy -Abhishek in Refugee and though the film (and Abhishek) didn’t do as well as expected, Kareena earned rave reviews.

Though the protagonist in Refugee was around the border a lot, J. P. Dutta failed recreate the magic of Border in Refugee. The natural and talented Kareena, without heavy make-up delivered on the sets without too many ‘takes’. And in fact, Refugee doesn't really look like her debut film at all.

Born to popular Bollywood stars Randhir Kapoor and Babita Kapoor ‘Bebo’ as she is affectionately known, stand 5'5" tall, blue eyed, and is a total extrovert. She wanted to study law in Harvard and had no plans to do anything in Bollywood. But destiny took a hancd and now she’s in the limelight like her successful sister Karishma!

Some well-placed sources in the industry (yeah it is a super clich) even say that Kareena’s Bollywood launch was delayed so that her sis Karishma could have a head start!

But the two are supposed to be very close to each other and as Kareena says- “We are always looking out for each other. We’re sisters first and everything else later! That’s Lolo and Bebo for you!

Re: *~*Actor/Actress Of The Month*~*

Actor Of The Month: Salman Khan A.K.A Sallu

Name :Salman Khan

Birth Date : 27th December, 1965

Birth Place : India

Height : 5' 8''

Occupation : Actor

Debut Film : ''Biwi HoTo Aisi''

Nickname : Sallu

Claim to fame : As 'Prem' in the record hit Bollywood movie ''Maine Pyar Kiya'' in 1989.

The eldest son on writer Salim Khan (of Salim-Javed fame) was born on 27th December, 1965 in Mumbai. Yet, unlike most of his contemporaries, there seems to have been little plotting and planning in Salman's career. In fact, he made an unconventional debut as Farouque Shaikh's younger brother in 'Biwi Ho To Aisi (1988) and no one noticed. The following year came 'Maine Pyaar Kiya', and his life changed forever. Sooraj Barjatya's syrupy romance turned Salman into a teen icon. Every producer with money in his pocket wanted to sign the star on the dotted line.

A decade later, there are die-hard loyalists who swear by him despite his alleged mood swings. Be it Sooraj Barjatya, Sanjay Bhansali or even David Dhawan. In fact, Salman is the only star who has struck a successful rapport with the plump director apart from Govinda, his eternal favourite. Remember the laugh-a-minute riot 'Judwaa' (1997)? Or for that matter 'Biwi No. 1', and their latest, 'Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge' which has also notched up a good opening. Similarly, Barjatya won't hear of signing anyone else as his film's hero. And although Madhuri Dixit walked off with all the accolades for her mesmeric presence in 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun' (1994), it was to Salman's credit that he gracefully played second fiddle and let her hog the show. Soon after playing the chocolate-boy hero in 'HAHK', Salman switched over to action-heavy flicks like Rakesh Roshan's 'Karan Arjun' and K K Singh's 'Veergati'. And gradually, the shirt started coming off more frequently.

So much so, many people believe it was Salman's pumped up body in the chart-topper "O, o jaane jaanaa" that helped brother Sohail's debut production 'Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya' (1998), set the box-office on fire. But when it comes to performing, he's been at his best with director Sanjay Bhansali. 'Khamoshi' (1996) brought Salman's acting abilities to the fore for the first time. As the sensitive music composer who loves Annie (Manisha Koirala), the daughter of deaf and dumb parents, he displayed a remarkable degree of maturity. Similarly, his Sameer Rosselini in 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam' was a thoroughly charming character.

In what must be the ugliest time of his public life, Salman was arrested in Rajasthan towards the end of 1998, while he was shooting for Barjatya's 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' for poaching endangered wild animals after allegedly shooting a rare black antelope near Jodhpur. In 2000, he was arrested by police under the charge of having connection with underworld mafia. In 2002, Khan was arrested again, this time for culpable homicide following the death of a man in a car accident in Bombay. He was found to be not guilty.

Today he is a sought after hero, working with almost all top banners. On the personal front, Khan had lovely ladies as his women. Salman's love story began with Sangeeta Bijlani and had a well publicised affair with Aishwarya Rai. Salman Khan is supposed to be one of the handsome hero in the industry having many good productions and directors so that he can give many hits and prove himself to be in the class of number one hero's. In a recently issued American magazine Salman was voted as the seventh best looking man in the world.

Salman Khan Trivia:

On August 24, 2007, the Jodhpur sessions court, upheld the 5 year jail term for Salman in the Chinkara poaching case by turning down his appeal against the 2006 judgement. At the time of the hearing, he was busy with a shooting elsewhere, while his sister attended the proceedings.
He has been placed under police arrest on 25th August 2007 in Jodhpur after a Rajasthan court upheld a prison sentence passed upon him for poaching.
On September 28, 2002, Salman was arrested for rash and negligent driving. He was under the influence of alcohol and his car veered onto a sidewalk outside a bakery in Mumbai. One person who was sleeping on the sidewalk died and three others were injured. Charges of culpable homicide were laid against him, but later dropped. However, some legal action in this case appears to be on-going.
On February 17, 2006, Salman was sentenced to one year in prison for hunting an endangered species, the Chinkara. The sentence was stayed by a higher court during appeal.
On April 10, 2006, Salman was handed a five year jail term for hunting the endangered Chinkara. He was remanded to Jodhpur jail, and remained there until April 13, when he was granted bail.
Arrested and jailed for poaching endangered wild animals after allegedly shooting a rare black antelope near Jodhpur. [12 October 1998]
Frequently gets rid of his T-Shirt in his films to show his muscles.
His second film "Maine Pyar Kiya" was a superhit.
In the long run, the all time record Bollywood hit "Hum Aapke Hain Koun...!", opposite Bollywood's queen bee and top Indian actress Madhuri Dixit, got him great success, though his credits are often debated in the film, and the credit had mainly gone to the hit music of the film, and mostly Madhuri Dixit.
Hindi superstar.
Arrested by police under the charge of having connection with underworld mafia. He was also questioned about Bharat Shah, a producer of Chori Chori Chupke Chupke (2001) since Shah has also been linked with underworld mafia. [2000]
One of the three Khans that ruled Bollywood in the 90s. The other two are Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan.
Son of Salim Khan, half of the famed Salim-Javed writing team.
Frequently visits sick children in hospitals, and also goes often to donate blood.
Exercises daily. Feels the day was incomplete without a workout.
Loves visiting London.
Was voted 7th best-looking man in the world by People Magazine.
Arrested for culpable homicide following the death of a man in a car accident in Bombay. Mr Khan was involved in an incident in which several homeless people were hit by a car in an area of north Bombay. The film star has been charged with "culpable homicide not amounting to murder". He also faces charges of drunk driving and not having a valid licence. If convicted, he could be jailed for up to 10 years. [October 2002]
Had a well publicised affair with Aishwarya Rai which lasted 2 years. Apparently his endless tantrums traumatized her enough to give a press conference in spring 2003 where she declared that she would never work with him again for personal reasons.
Was accused in another press conference in spring 2003 by Vivek Oberoi to have called the latter 41 times during one night and threatened him with death as well.
Brother of Sohail Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Alvira Khan and Arpita Khan.
Not only is he a health freak, he also loves to initiate people who aren't as health-conscious as himself into workouts. He forced co-star Anil Kapoor to work out at the gymnasium every day. While Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan are his early trainees.
His favorite actor is Sylvester Stallone.
Model turned actress Malaika was his sister-in-law. Actor turned director Atul Agnihotri was his brother-in-law.
Best friends with Sanjay Dutt. Also has a very strong friendship with Sushmita Sen
He was an excellent swimmer in his school days and was even tipped for representing the country one day.
In his early days as a struggling actor he never used his father's name and influence like many other heroes with relatives in the industry. He used to visit producers on his own and audition for roles.
Always believes in giving newcomers a chance. So he spares time in between shots to listen to their scrip ideas, and credits this to his memory of when he was a newcomer.

Biography

Madhuri wanted to become a micro-biologist - however that just wasn't destined to be. An offer from Rajshri Productions brought Madhuri her first role, the film `Abodh' (1986) released and forgotten, it wasn't until godfather Ghai saw Madhuri and gave her a tiny dance sequence in `Karma' (1986), that things improved. The dance sequence was omitted from the final cut. Ghai promised Madhuri better roles, on the condition that she stop doing tiny roles in insignificant films. Thus, Ghai gave Madhuri `Uttar Dakshin', and then a proper launch in `Ram Lakhan' (1988). Ghai also took the step of putting an eight page advertisement in the trade magazines featuring Madhuri, proclaiming that producers of the calibre of Boney Kapoor, Yash Chopra and six others had signed Madhuri for their forthcoming projects. It was all together another matter that none of the forementioned producers had signed Madhuri for their films.

Madhuri however, didn't have to wait for Ghai's `Ram Lakhan', N.Chandra's `Tezaab' and ek, do, teen char took the nation by storm, Miss Dixit had arrived, and the whole world knew. Tezaab went on to complete a golden jubilee, and was thus a bigger hit than Ram Lakhan.

A superb performance followed in Dil (1990) - which brought Madhuri her first Filmfare award, a rapport was struck with Indra Kumar which resulted in two more blockbusters Beta (1991) and Raja (1995). 1990 onwards, a hit film per year followed including Saajan, Khalnayak, Prem Pratigaya, cumulating in Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994), hindi cinema's biggest blockbuster to date. Madhuri mania ensured the success of `Raja' (1995), a film with many flaws, thus Madhuri was renamed `the female Amitabh Bachchan'.

Unfortunately after the success of `Raja' (1995), Madhuri's films started to collapse at the box office. Yaarana, Rajkumar, Prem Granth, Mahaanta, one after the other. Luckily for Madhuri she gained praise for her performance in `Prem Granth' (1996) and for her looks in `Rajkumar' (1996). By now it had dawned on the industry that Madhuri's lataks and mataks ensure a films success, not.

The presswallas had by now written Madhuris obitury, and annouced that it was time for Madhuri to pack her bags and get married. An issue was made of Madhuri co-starring with Akshaye Khanna who was younger in age to Madhuri in Mohabbat. It was also widely stated that Madhuri favoured films produced by her secretary Rikhu, even though all of Rikhus productions failed at the box-office. Madhuri was never far from controversy, her much publiced affair? with Sunjay Dutt caused a storm, when Sunjay's wife issued a press statement proclaiming her desire to have Sunjay back. The Choli ke peeche song in Khalnayak also caused a stir. With women liberation groups asked for a ban on Madhuri. After the not so great Koyla, director Rakesh Roshan stated that Madhuri could no longer play the youthful type, and continued to make unsavoury comments. Madhuris response was a dignified silence. Madhuri is on top of the league when it comes to being unaffected by what is written about her. Very rarely if ever has Madhuri retaliated to comments made about her in the press, by either journos or collegues.

Prakash Jha's `Mrityudand' (1997) ensured critical acclaim if not box-office success, Madhuri still had the fire that was shown in Tezaab, the intensity that came to light in Beta. Age, said the industry was catching up, Yash Chopra's Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), proved otherwise. A phenomenal success at the box-office, mass acceptance by the audience. Madhuri never looked better, danced better or acted better, her latest offering was indeed her best till date. Madhuri went on to win a handful of awards for her performances in Mrityudand and Dil To Pagal Hai, and even dedicated her Filmfare award to her critics.

In 1998 Madhuri had only one major film to her credit CN Chandra's Wajood, unfortunately the film failed to recreate the hysteria of Tezaab (1988). 1999 it seems will be Madhuri's golden year, for an actress who rarely trends the path of unconvential roles, this year has Madhuri in a host of different characters. MF Hussain's `Gajagamini' is an art film that has Madhuri playing arange of characters. In Boney Kapoor's `Pukar' Madhuri's got a negative role, as well as the usual dose of triangular love stories, Madhuri's first south Indian film, `Engineer', is a techno thriller.

She didn't quit films after marriage. She gave us a splendid performance in Pukar.

Then after a short gap, she came back in Lajja with a super performance which bagged her the Best Supporting Actor award in the Lux Zee Cine Awards 2002.

Her Hum Aapke Hain Sanam stars Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aishwarya Rai (in a special appearence) and she's all set to give better and better performances in the future.
