Singapore GP: Formula One Practice 1 Results - Hamilton Fastest, Massa Right Behind!
Lewis Hamilton seems to be feeling no ill effects from jet lag after having to appear at the latest FIA kangaroo court on Monday as the McLaren driver led the opening practice session for the inaugural Singapore Grand Prix. The Briton set a top time of 1:45.518.

Felipe Massa is now officially just one point behind Hamilton in the Formula One World Driver's championship, and was just .08 behind his adversary on the track.

Keeping close were their teammates Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari) and Heikki Kovalainen (McLaren). Neither driver has committed to helping the championship contenders win those titles, and instead continue to talk of building their own CVs with more victories yet this season.

Behind the two top teams, Mark Webber smashed his Red Bull, and numerous drivers made some light contact with the barriers.

Formula 1: Singapore Grand Prix Qualifying Results (27/09)

FERRARI'S Felipe Massa is in pole position for Formula 1's first ever night race in Singapore following a scorching final lap in qualifying.
His fastest lap, under floodlights on the Marina Bay street circuit, was six tenths of a second quicker than McLaren's Lewis Hamilton, with fellow Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen slotting in in third and BMW Sauber's Robert Kubica taking fourth spot on
the grid.

Bad luck dogged Renault's Fernando Alonso, who was going great guns until a suspected fuel supply problem saw him slip to 15th.

Brackley-based Honda's Jenson Button will start Sunday's grand prix in 12th spot, with fellow driver Rubens Barichello in 18th place.

Giancarlo Fisichella, driving for Silverstone-based Force India, saw his weekend go from bad to worse, following up his crash in practice with a second smash in the first qualifying session before he had even completed a lap. Force India team-mate Adrian Sutil finished 19th on the grid.
