Govt. to ensure foolproof security of UN offices: Rehman Malik

ISLAMABAD: Advisor to Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik Tuesday said the government will ensure foolproof security of United Nations’ offices in Pakistan. In a meeting with UN representatives here at the Ministry of Interior, Malik said the government is taking measures to ensure safety and security of diplomats, UN offices and foreigners. The security of UN offices, diplomats and embassies have already been beefed up, he added. The UN representatives in Pakistan expressed their satisfaction over the security measures being taken by Pakistan and thanked the Advisor to Prime Minister in this regard. Earlier, Sultan Ahmed advisor to Afghan foreign minister called on Rehman Malik and discussed bilateral issues.Malik assured Afghan delegation that the kidnapped Afghan envoy in Pakistan would soon be recovered as the government of Pakistan is utilizing all available resources for his safe recovery. Meanwhile, UAE envoy in Pakistan Ali Saif Awani also called on Rehman Malik and discussed matters of mutual interests. Interior Advisor said Pakistan gives too much importance to its relations with UAE that cannot be undermined and will be strengthened in future. The envoy said that UAE also respects its ties with Pakistan and both the countries are cooperating with each other in different sectors. Secretary Interior Syed Kamal Shah was also present in the meeting.
