Gilchrist 'to miss start of Cup'
Australia wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist is to miss the start of the World Cup to attend the birth of his third child, reports down under say. Gilchrist is set to be absent for at least the two warm-up matches and the first group game against Scotland after being granted compassionate leave.
Australia announce their 15-man squad for the tournament on Tuesday.
Brad Haddin is set to be the named as the wicket-keeper for the early part of Australia's defence of the World Cup.

Pakistan

Pakistan on Tuesday named their 15-man squad for cricket's World Cup starting in the Caribbean from March 13.

Pakistan squad includes: Inzamam-ul-Haq (capt), Younis Khan, Imran Nazir, Kamran Akmal, Mohammad Yousuf, Shoaib Malik, Abdul Razzaq, Mohammad Asif, Shoaib Akhtar, Umar Gul, Danish Kaneria, Mohammad Hafeez, Shahid Afridi, Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, Rao Iftikhar.

All rounder Azhar Mehmood and Muhammad Sami were not included in the squad.

Fast bowlers Shoaib Akhtar, Muhammad Asif and Umar Gul have to pass fitness test on March 02 to be a part of the team.

New Zealand

The New Zealand cricket selectors on Tuesday remained loyal to the established members of their one-day cricket squad for the World Cup in the West Indies, despite a disappointing summer.

The dismal record of just six wins in their last 16 one-day internationals may have been enough to change the line-up, but the selectors resisted the chance to experiment when they named their 15-man World Cup squad.

The only surprise was the recall of opening bowler Daryl Tuffey, two years after he was sidelined with a torn shoulder tendon. Coach John Bracewell said Tuffey’s ability to take the ball away from right-handers made him the ideal replacement for the injured Kyle Mills.

Tuffey, who beat off Andre Adams and Chris Martin to replace Mills, has played 76 one-day international matches since his debut in 2000 and taken 90 wickets at an average of 29.92.
With New Zealand heading into a home series against Australia in a final tune-up before the World Cup, Bracewell put the emphasis on consistency.

Netherlands retain unchanged squad for WC

AMSTERDAM: Netherlands have retained the same squad that played in the World Cricket League for next month's World Cup.

The side will leave for the Caribbean on March 2 and will play two warm-up matches in Jamaica before facing South Africa in their first match of the tournament in St.Kitts on March 16.

Pakistan reveal back-up players

Pakistan named opening batsman Salman Butt and veteran all-rounder Azhar Mahmood among five reserve players for the World Cup in the West Indies. Pacemen Mohammad Sami and Shahid Nazir, plus reserve wicket-keeper Zulqarnain Haider, can also fly to the Caribbean if any of the main squad are injured.
Pakistan already have fitness problems with selected fast bowlers Shoaib Akhtar, Umar Gul and Mohammad Asif.
They lost a recent Test and one-day series in South Africa.
