    Anomalous behavior of Lithium…

The properties of Li and its compounds are differ far more from those of the other Group 1 elements
    1. Melting Point and Boiling Point of Li is much higher than those for other Group 1 elements
    2. Li is much harder than rest of the group
    3. Li reacts with O2 least readily to form normal oxide. Peroxide is formed with great difficulty. Higher oxides are unstable
    4. LiOH is less basic compared to that of other elements in the same group, and many of its salts are less table. Li2CO3, LiNO3 and LIOH forms oxide with gentle heating whereas analogous compounds of the group shows higher thermal stability
    5. Li forms Li3N on heating with N2 but none of other in the group does not
    6. Li directly react with C to form ionic carbide, but not others in the group
    7. Li has greater tendency to form complexes
    8. Li2CO3, Li3PO4, LiF are insoluble in water and LiOH sparingly soluble, but the rest of group forms water soluble compounds
    9. The halides and alkyls of Li are far more covalent in nature than that of Na compounds and therefore they soluble in organic solvents.
    10. The Li ion itself and also it’s compounds are more heavily hydrated than those of the rest of the group

    Attractive-Ey3s

Please don't make me repeat my Inter Part 2, its cut paste from there if I remember correctly. Now I have changed my field drastically..
BTW Thanks for sharing, little more addon with explanation of why? Which our teacher told us which I don't remember now should be added to help others.
